Routes to the Gifted Endorsement

DOE/State Approved District Gifted Endorsement Plan

A Bachelor’s Degree or higher and certification in another appropriate academic class subject coverage

  • Competencies completed in 5 areas

    1. Nature and Needs of Gift Students

    2. Curriculum and Instructional Strategies for Teaching Gifted Students

    3. Guidance and Counseling of Gifted Students

    4. Educating Special Populations of Gifted Students

    5. Theory and Development of Creativity

  • Must apply to FLDOE to add to current Educator's Certificate

NOTE: Paid courses will only be offered to those individuals required to meet Out-of-Field requirements or teachers needing specific coursework for current teaching assignment

Participants interested in Gifted coursework, must notify Chrystal Grundy by email for course enrollment. Courses not completed within the 12 week timeline will be subject to a reimbursement fee of $195.00 per course (amount subject to change). Participant must provide the Certification Office (Brianna McCartney) a copy of the course certificate upon course completion to receive credit

It is the responsibility of the qualifying educator to contact the Human Resources Certification Office, upon completion of all Gifted endorsement requirements, to add the Gifted coverage to their certificate. It is advisable to maintain a running record of completed Gifted courses AND to contact the HR Certification Office to ensure course work is not duplicated.
