Describe the actions the LEA will take to provide coordination, technical assistance, and other support necessary to assist Title I, Part A schools in planning and implementing effective parent and family engagement activities which build the capacity of parents to improve the academic achievement of their child and overall school performance [Section 1116(a)(2)(B and C) and 1116(e)(1-14)].

Include a description of the process the LEA will use to review the school-level P&FE to
ensure compliance with all requirements of Section 1116 [34 CFR 200.21(c and d)].
Include information on how the LEA will provide other reasonable support for parent and
family engagement activities under Section 1116 as parents may request [Section
1116(e)(14)].

Response:

Federal Programs Director will meet regularly as needed with principals to provide technical assistance. The district's email system will be utilized to provide efficient communication between site-based administrators and district administrators. The Federal Programs Director will work individually with Title I administrators to review their PFEP and give strategies for parent and family engagement. The district will allocate Title I funds earmarked for parent/family engagement activities to the Title I schools.

The LEA provides social workers to work with area schools as a support to parents and students. The social workers make home visits at the request of the schools. The LEA is available to social workers if there are any concerns. The social workers suggest that early involvement with parents and families on the elementary level helps improve attendance with students.

The district will allocate Title I funds earmarked for parent/family engagement activities to Title I schools.

All Title I schools are required to convene a Title I Annual Meeting, at a convenient time, to which all parents and families shall be invited and encouraged to attend. The purpose of the Annual Meeting is to explain to parents and families what Title I, Part A is and how it helps their children. In early August the LEA provides to the schools a Title I PowerPoint to be used at the Title I Annual Meeting. Schools will also discuss how parents and family members can get involved in their students' education and work on the School's Parent and Family Engagement Plan. The administration also explains to parents and families what it means to be in a Title I school, including an explanation of the parent and family engagement requirements; to give availability notification and invite input into the individual School Improvement Plan and Title I, Part A plan. The LEA will work with each Title I school in August and September to review its completed Parent and Family Engagement Plan in order to meet the Title I requirements.

All Title I schools shall jointly develop and annually review with parents and families, a School-Parent compact that outlines how parents and families, the entire school staff and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school, parents, and families will build and develop a partnership to help children meet the state's high standards. Every parent and family member should have an opportunity to participate in the drafting of the compact.

The elementary schools will conduct, at least annually, one parent-teacher conference during which the compact shall be discussed as it relates to the individual child's achievement.

The LEA helps find a translator for Title I Annual meetings if schools do not have one. In the Migrant Parent Meetings and ELL Parent Meetings, a translator presents the presentations. Migrant Recruiters also accompany parents to some parent/teacher conferences.

The LEA will use a variety of ways to communicate to parents including the District website which has links to all the schools' websites.

If the LEA receives requests and feedback from parents and families for other reasonable support that have not been planned when in the development of the Parent Family Engagement Plan, the LEA will discuss with parents how that request might be implemented and how it will help families. The LEA encourages suggestions and requests from families that the LEA is able to implement at the District level. These requests or suggestions may come through our District School Advisory Council (DSAC) or through the individual district meetings such as Migrant/ELL parents, parents for Exceptional Students or Advanced Academic students.
