Assessment Schedule

Participation in Florida Statewide Assessments for Special Programs (Home Education and Private School (PEP) Students)

  • By statute, Home Education students are not required to take statewide assessments. However, many parents choose to have their child participate in Florida Statewide Assessments through the school district.

  • Those students participating in scholarship programs or the Personalized Education Program (PEP) must show proficiency by participating in a nationally norm-referenced test or may arrange to take the Florida Statewide Assessments through the school district. Refer to this page from FLDOE.

  • Highlands County does offer the opportunity to participate in the Florida statewide, standardized assessments to these students (Note: Home Education students, private school/PEP students are only able to participate in end-of year assessments in grades 3–10 and end-of-course [EOC] assessments; they are not able to participate in PM1 and PM2 of the FAST progress monitoring assessments or in any kindergarten through grade 2 assessments).

  • Special Programs students testing with the School Board of Highlands County will test through Highlands Virtual School. If interested, complete the form below. Note the deadline for signing up for testing with the school district is March 3, 2025.
