In collaboration with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, each of our secondary schools conducted random drug searches using a K-9 unit last week. This initiative, which aligns with school board policy to ensure a safe and drug-free learning environment, focused on random classrooms and student parking areas. We are pleased to report that no illegal substances were found. "Goose" is trained for one task: to identify illegal substances. Students should expect that the team will visit our schools at various times again this year.
This successful outcome is a testament to the commitment of our students, staff, and families to maintaining a positive and secure school community. We thank the Highlands County Sheriff's Office for their partnership in this important effort.
