Today, the 2026 Lake Country Elementary School Jamboree was a heartfelt celebration centered on the core themes of Family, Relationships, Traditions, and Legacy. Continuing a proud tradition that first began in 1988, this year's Jamboree highlighted the incredible talents, skills, and teamwork of the LCE "dragons" beyond the classroom walls. The students' hard work and confidence were on full display, made possible by the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes over the last few weeks. It was a morning to reflect on the school's rich history while joyfully celebrating the vibrant community that makes Lake Country Elementary so special.

A major highlight of the event was the building dedication, marking a triumphant journey from groundbreaking to ribbon-cutting. The school recognized Superintendent Dr. Longshore and the Highlands County School Board for advocating for the expansion to accommodate a growing student body, who have increasingly been in portable classrooms. Special gratitude was extended to Marmar Construction, specifically Martie and Meredith for their leadership, Laura for her servant leadership, Curt for his positive attitude, and Brandon, a former LCE student. Brandon's commitment perfectly blended the heart of past memories with a vision for the future, notably through the recreation of the recess area featuring brand-new kickball and soccer fields.

The dedication ceremony also served as a profound moment to honor the legacy of LCE’s founding principal, Dr. Majel Bowerman. Surrounded by her family and community friends, the school dedicated "Majel’s Magnolia." This beautiful tree stands as a representation of her grace and strength; its roots will forever hold the foundation of the school together, while its shade offers a peaceful resting place as she continues to watch children learn, play, and thrive on the grounds. Following the Jamboree festivities and closing remarks, special guests were escorted to the highly anticipated ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially opening the doors to Lake Country Elementary's next chapter.
