During Teacher Appreciation Week, we have been sharing quotes from famous educators. Today, we close the week with a quote from Highlands County Teacher of the Year Dara Judah, from Woodlawn Elementary School. Our teachers are difference makers for almost 12,000 children every day, and we are grateful for their dedication and service!

Today is 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗢 𝗗𝗔𝗬! Our Food & Nutrition Services staff truly are superheroes. Each day they feed almost 12,000 children and numerous staff members, but they don't stop there. They build relationships with students and staff and are a vital part of our School Board family. Even in times of natural disaster, they they turn out to help feed the community. Today is 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗖𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗔𝗬. We thank the dedicated law enforcement officers of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and the Sebring Police Department for their service to our schools, keeping students and staff safe each day. You are all a tremendous part of our school family, and we are grateful for you!
Today is recognized as Marjory Stoneman Douglas Remembrance Day, marking seven years since 17 innocent lives were lost in Parkland, Florida, to a senseless act of violence. Let us pause to remember those lost that day.

Today we observe Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. To honor his legacy, and his dream for all children, we strive each day in Highlands County schools to instill critical thinking and character in our students, nurturing the future generations that Dr. King envisioned.
