We need your help to get the lost and found under control. Please talk to your kids about keeping track of their belongings. Writing their first and last name on items helps us get items back to the student.

Tuesday for Celebrate Literacy Week was TOWEL Day…Together Outside While Enjoying Literacy! Students got opportunities to bring towels and sit outside in the nice weather while enjoying good books. Reading rocks! #itssweettobeaneagle #thewoodlawnway
✨3rd Grade Escape Room✨
As we wrapped up reading The Boxcar Children, our 3rd grade students became detectives, helping the Alden children escape the bakery! They worked through five exciting challenges that tested their knowledge and critical thinking by:
•Identifying character traits of the main characters
•Solving a puzzle to reveal the story’s setting
•Putting events in chronological order
•Deciphering riddles by analyzing the meaning of words using context clues
•Solving clues based on the book’s themes.
The students showed teamwork, creativity, and a deep understanding of the novel. It was an engaging and interactive way to bring the story to life! Lots of pictures on our Facebook page.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye…there was a Royal Teddy Bear Tea Party in Kindergarten. King Wright and Queen Gilbert, with the help of the royal knights and their steed, welcomed our kindergarten princes and princesses to the royal WES castle with their favorite stuffed animals to celebrate their learning on Kings and Queens. Students learned to curtsy and bow, drank “tea” and ate cookies, read royal decrees (aka CVC words) to their special guests, and ended with a royal dance (A Tooty Ta). Last week, we had a few special visitors on our campus bringing an important recognition! Dr. Brenda Longshore, Superintendent of Schools, and Mrs. Stephanie Hanks, Director of Finance, presented our amazing bookkeeper, Ms. Donna Brown, with a certificate of achievement for receiving an outstanding audit for two years in a row. Ms. Brown is integral to the behind scenes work of Woodlawn and serves the students and staff selflessly. On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we want to take the time to give a Woodlawn shout out to Officer Diego Serrano! Last evening was our Winter Concert for our Show Choir, Synerchimes, and Eagle chorus under the direction of Mrs. Ritenour. Our leaders shared their genius proudly and sounded amazing. Last Thursday was our annual Mom and Daughter social! Moms and daughters dressed for a night in the city as they enjoyed a delicious meal, dessert trays, fun holiday crafts, charades, games, and ended it with a Christmas Carol sing-a-long! A huge shout out to our amazing staff who organized this event and a thank you to First Baptist Church for the use of their facilities. Our Leadership Ambassadors got a chance to serve at The Mission to help them prepare for their Thanksgiving feed tomorrow. Our leaders peeled potatoes, shucked corn, baked desserts, made hygiene bags, made PB&J sandwiches and grab n go lunchable bags. Our leaders loved serving and giving back during this thankful season. Before the break, was our annual Heart of Thanks breakfast for our wonderful staff. It’s room service style, delivered by our Leadership Ambassadors. We are so grateful for every person on this campus who make this school such a special place. Thursday was Friendship Luncheon in Kindergarten. Students have been learning about Native Americans and Pilgrims and they practiced the first Thanksgiving by sharing a meal together. Students got to sample Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, Cranberry, and even made their own butter to put on cornbread. Learning is fun when you do it, #TheWoodlawnWay. #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle
We hosted a V.I.P. (Very Impressive Progress) Lunch for some of our leaders who have made amazing progress since last school year. Students were surprised with a VIP backstage pass and got to celebrate with games and lunch on stage! Leaders are all about growth and these kids are rocking it.
