Yesterday, our 3rd graders finished up their study on The Human Body! Our leaders became surgeons for the day and had a blast while learning. Faculty Meeting turned Friendsgiving is just what was needed! We enjoyed delicious treats, spending time with each other, playing games with our teams (and even challenged ourselves to find two people we’ve talked to less than 3 times this year), and ending it with breaking ground on the next phase of the Woodlawn legacy. Our 3rd graders had the opportunity to attend the annual Ag Ventures field trip hosted by our local agriculture community. Our students were immersed in hands on stations learning about local agriculture topics. We are blessed to live in a community that believes in not only our future generation but also the future of agriculture. Friday was one of our most favorite events of the year, our annual Veteran’s Day program and this year we held two with over 500 guests in attendance! Under the direction of our amazing music teacher, Mrs. Ritenour, our students celebrated and honored our Veterans using their genius of music. From our Beautification Team helping with decorating, to our First Impressions Team helping with escorting our guests, to our Show Choir helping with speaking parts, and to our grade levels each singing their song…it was an amazing morning. Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating our Employee of the Year, Mrs. Tamika Jenkins and our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Dara Judah! Both of these ladies embody The Woodlawn Way every day and we are blessed they are part of our family. We would also like to give a huge congratulations to Mrs. Dara Judah as she was named Highlands County Teacher of the Year! She will represent our district at the state level. Last week was a Medieval Times experience for our 4th grade leaders! Students started their morning with a Medieval Field Day filled with games from the Middle Ages including catapults, horse races, horse shoes, and pick up sticks! Students then did project rotations where students created catapults, stained glass windows, and shields. Then they concluded their day with a Medieval Feast with a special jousting match and dance. Yesterday was a paint party for our 3rd grade leaders hosted by The Red Easel. Students have been learning about classification of animals and today they got to pick a picture from one of the classifications and paint it!
