We are excited to welcome Mrs. Ashley Gross to our 4th grade team for the 2024-2025 school year! Mrs. Gross interned with Ms. Hanks in 4th grade and we are so proud to have her joining our family in her own classroom. Welcome home, Mrs. Gross...we can't wait to see how you SOAR at Woodlawn! #TheWoodlawnWay

Let's meet our next newest Eagle joining our nest next school year. Here is Mrs. Hart...a new 2nd grade teacher joining our Woodlawn family. Mrs. Hart should be no stranger to our boys and girls as she has been subbing at Woodlawn all school year and we are so excited she decided to land permanently in a classroom at our school. Welcome to Woodlawn, Mrs. Hart! #TheWoodlawnWay

Woodlawn Family...join us in welcoming our next new eagle, Mrs. Whitten! Mrs. Whitten will be joining our 5th grade team as an ELA teacher. She brings with her a passion for teaching and a love for students. We are blessed that she joined the nest. Let's give her a BIG Woodlawn welcome! #TheWoodlawnWay

It's time to introduce our newest Eagles joining the nest for the 2024-2025 school year! First up, we are pleased to introduce Mrs. Helvey, a 3rd grade ELA teacher returning home to Sebring from Gainesville. Welcome to Woodlawn, Mrs. Helvey! #TheWoodlawnWay

Thursday was the BIG day…at the end of the 5th grade awards, Nukumori (House of Kindness) was named the overall winning 5th grade house. After the big announcement, we whisked them away on a special celebration. It started with a game of dodgeball at the ROC, followed by Hibachi lunch at Cang Tong and Sweet Frog for dessert. Congratulations Nukumori! #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Thursday was Jayma Hitt’s last day of her 37 year career at Woodlawn Elementary School! She spent her entire career at our school and truly built a legacy of compassion, love, and kindness. We wanted to honor her legacy in a special way. Miss Tenneson and Mrs. Hamilton came to the rescue and painted this beautiful mural in our front office for Mrs. Hitt. We added a special plaque to it honoring Mrs. Hitt and her wonderful smile she has shared with students, families, and colleagues for 37 years. Congrats on your retirement Mrs. Hitt…you are The Woodlawn Way! #TheWoodlawnWay

Our 5th graders participated in our 1st annual Eagle Games! Students joined their houses to compete against their fellow houses in field events. Check out our house spirit. Tomorrow we reveal who the House Champion will be! #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Last night was the Kindergarten Celebration for our amazing class of 2024 kindergarteners! Students performed several music numbers under the direction of Mrs. Ritenour and then received their end of the year awards. Huge shout out to Southside Baptist for letting us use their facilities for the event and an even bigger shout out to these rockstar Kindergarten teachers! They make magic happen. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Yesterday was our ultimate SOAR bucks and house point prize! Leaders who have been saving up from all the maximum effort they’ve been showing this last nine weeks got to spend their earned soar bucks/house points on a trip to SkyZone Lakeland. Hard work pays off! #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Last week, some of our students got to pay SOAR Bucks to play in our own Woodlawn Video Game room.
A huge shout out to Mrs. Judah and Mrs. Gauger for setting up this fun experience for kids and Mrs. Waldon for helping run the experience all day. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Thursday was a YOU PICK kind of celebration! As students met their 4th quarter WIG, they got the privilege of choosing their area of Genius to help celebrate. Students could pick from drawing, outdoor games, cookie decorating, arts and crafts, stem challenges, or cooking! Students had a blast developing their genius while celebrating their success. See our Facebook page for more pictures. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Wednesday was our Ellis Island simulation for our 2nd grade leaders. Students took on the role of an immigrant trying to make their way to our country through Ellis Island. Students had to go through baggage checks and health exams, they had to exchange their currency for American dollars, and had to pass their naturalization exam before being admitted into America. Some students were even detained! Who says learning can’t be fun? A huge shout out goes to our volunteers who helped make this special experience happen. Check our Facebook page for lots of pictures from this great event. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

We had the honor of recognizing two very special eagles who are retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. Jayma Hitt retires after 37 years of service and all 37 of those years were at Woodlawn! She is a pillar of our school and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Yvonne McDonald retires after 36 years of teaching, with her last three being at Woodlawn. Both of these ladies leave a legacy of excellence and we wish them the best in their next chapters! And remember…Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle! #TheWoodlawnWay

Our 3rd graders’ trip to LegoLand was this week. Thankful for a great day and that the weather held off so that these students could wrap up their year in style. Everything was AWESOME! More pictures on our Facebook page. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Last week, our first graders went on a Westward Expedition. They were Trail Blazers through the Appalachian mountains like Daniel Boone; they purchased the Louisiana Territory from France then paddled west on the Missouri River like Lewis and Clark to the Great Plains where they discovered new animals! They then met Sacajawea, crossed the Rocky Mountains by foot and finally reached the Pacific Ocean. Our first grade teachers are true magic makers. See our Facebook page for more pictures. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #StudentSuccess

On Thursday we had our end of the year Mentor and Mentee party! Thanks to Ms. Henderson for planning this awesome time to celebrate all of our students’ progress this year. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

We crossed the finish line of our amazing staff appreciation week with breakfast donated from our Sebring Wendy’s. We are so thankful for their partnership! This was the perfect way to fuel up for our Goose Chase after school. Teams of teachers chased around town doing fun challenges. We ended at Sweet Frog to wrap up our amazing week. We are so thankful for our parents and community sponsors for making this a week to remember.
We have #Onemission #Studentsuccess
Luckily for us this rockstar staff makes celebrating them easy. #TheWoodlawnWay

Greece and USA have been the final two pit stops for our Amazing Race Staff Appreciation Week. Yesterday staff enjoyed Greek Salads and Chicken Souvlaki and today was barbecue thanks to the Sebring Firemen’s amazing generosity. A huge thanks to Cody’s for donating rolls for today’s lunch as well! #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Tuesday’s leg of The Amazing Race landed us in Mexico as we celebrated Taco Tuesday for Staff Appreciation week. Thanks to our amazing Parent Lighthouse Team and Sophie’s Cafe for the awesome taco bar. It was delicious. In addition, more gnomes were found around campus. We also ended our day with a shopping spree sponsored by Office Depot. Our staff had a blast shopping for items for their classrooms. #TheWoodlawnWay #OneMission #studentsuccess

Yesterday we entered the last leg of our Amazing Race with Staff Appreciation Week! Monday’s travels took us to Italy as staff enjoyed an Italian themed lunch courtesy of our Parent Lighthouse Team. Our staff has been on a great mission this year and we can’t wait to celebrate them all week. Also, shout out to a few of our staff members who found the Travelocity gnomes around campus. They traded those in for free pedicures thanks to Top Nail/Nail Lounge. More pictures on our Facebook page.
